Scenic Chairlift Rides

an image

Ride two chairlifts over Mt Ruapehu’s striking volcanic terrain to an altitude of 2,020 meters above sea level. Once there you can take in the breathtaking views of the Tongariro National Park; Mt Ruapehu, Tongariro and Ngauruhoe.

View Lord of the Rings movie filming locations and also amazing mountain scenery including waterfalls, in the high alpine environment.

Wear your comfortable walking shoes for this adventure, as you’ll be walking over an unformed path and possibly snow between the two chairlifts!  This is a leisurely ride suitable for the whole family. Lifts operate - 3.30pm daily (weather conditions permitting) except Christmas Day.

Lifts operate from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm daily. Last ride up is at 3:30 pm. Open 7 days per week except Christmas Day.

If weather conditions deteriorate during the day we may close lifts earlier than planned.  If this happens and you miss your lift ride down you will need to make your way back to the base area on foot.
