Q. I am 18 now but will turn 19 before the season starts. Can I purchase a Youth pass or do I need an Adult pass?
A. Our age categories apply to the pass holder's age at time of purchase, so as long as you buy your pass while you are still 18 you are entitled to a Youth pass.
Q. What benefits are associated with a 2017 Season Pass?

Q. Can I use all 4 of my Buddy Passes in one day?
A. Yes, if you bring four people with you.
Q. Can I use my Infant or Child’s Season Pass for an Adult or Youth Buddy Pass?
A. No. Buddy Passes can only be used for 50% off day passes of the same type or less.
Q. When is the 2017 planned winter operational season?
A. The 2017 planned winter operational seasons for RAL ski areas are as follows: Happy Valley 3 June – 23 October 2017, Whakapapa 10 June - 23 October 2017, Turoa 1 July - 23 October 2017.
Passes can only be used during the winter operational seasons of RAL ski areas. The winter operational seasons are determined by RAL at its absolute discretion and are subject to snow and weather conditions, and RAL having a licence to operate the ski areas at such times.
Q. How can I avoid the credit card processing fee?
A. You are welcome to visit our sales offices in Ohakune, Taupo or Whakapapa ski area to purchase if you would like to pay by cash or Eftpos. Alternatively you can download and print an application form via our website, complete and send to us in the mail with a cheque.
Q. Why can’t I pay via Internet banking?
A. Currently this is not possible to reconcile in our online store due to compatibility issues, however we are working towards providing alternative payment options in the near future.
Q. When is a First Tracks/Night Ski Season Pass valid?
A. First Tracks will be available every day (weather permitting) at Whakapapa only, on the Rangatira Express, between 8.00am and 9.00am. Only customers with a First Tracks season or day pass will have access to lifts before 9.00am.
Night Skiing will occur every Friday and Saturday (weather permitting) at Whakapapa only, in Happy Valley and on the Rangatira Express. Only customers with a Night Ski season or day pass will have access to lifts from 4.00pm. Night Skiing will begin at the start of school holidays (7th July).
Q. If I don’t purchase a First Tracks/Night Ski Season Pass now, can I add this later?

Q. Can I get a partial refund if First Tracks or Night Skiing doesn’t operate when I come to Whakapapa?
A. No. Refunds on any Season Pass are only available in certain circumstances, and only if the Season Pass refund warranty has been purchased. See terms and conditions for details.
Q. Why is there no First Tracks at Turoa?
A. First tracks is a lower mountain only product and is therefore only possible at Whakapapa, it also ensures lift queues on peak days are not impacted by a late lift opening at Turoa.
Q. Why is there no Night Skiing at Turoa?
A. At this stage, only lighting has been installed in Happy Valley and lower mountain Whakapapa. This may be reviewed in future years.
Q. I have a Super Super Season Pass, why do I have to pay $49 for Night Skiing?
A. Night skiing is an additional premium product and is a flat rate for all adult customers.
Q. How many Platinum Passes are available?
A. There will be a maximum of 400 of these passes sold, to ensure a quality premium parking product for all purchasers.
Q. Where are the premium parking areas located at each ski area and how do I access them?
A. They are located at the top of the mountain access roads, follow the signs for Platinum Pass holders. You’ll need to swipe your access card on arrival.
Q. Can you guarantee premium parking every day for Platinum Pass holders?
A. Yes, this is a strictly limited product and due to a new, gated access system, capacity can be controlled on a daily basis to ensure availability for Season Platinum Customers.
Q. Why can’t I share a Platinum membership with a friend or family member, like I did last year?
A. Premium paid parking must be accompanied by the purchase of a lift pass, as determined in the Tongariro National Park Management plan, so this product needs to be attached to an individual season/life pass or day pass holder.
Q. If I choose not to purchase a Platinum Season Pass, can I add a Platinum upgrade to my day/flexi/season pass on the day?
A. Yes, but this will be strictly subject to availability, depending on how many Platinum Season Pass holders are utilising our premium parking areas that day. A Platinum day pass will give the holder access to all of the benefits of a Platinum Season Pass, for that day only.
Q. I have a Platinum Pass, can I carpool with my non-Platinum Pass friends and park in the premium parking area?
A. Yes - The Platinum Pass parking benefit can be used as long as there is a Platinum Pass holder in the vehicle. Platinum Passes are non-transferrable, therefore only the individual attached to the Platinum Pass will have access to the premium parking area.
Q. If I have a regular Season Pass, will I get the 10% Season Pass holder discount on a Platinum day upgrade?
Yes, the discount is applicable to any full priced day product.
Q. What is the Ultimate Pass?
A. The Ultimate Pass allows access to Mt Ruapehu ski areas, plus unlimited access to either Cardrona Alpine Resort for the season, Snowplanet Auckland for a year or Skyline Rotorua MTB park for a year. There are no blackout dates on the Cardrona/Snowplanet/Skyline portion of the Ultimate pass. Purchasers will be issued a separate card by Cardrona/Snowplanet/Skyline for access to their resort.
Q. I purchased my Season Pass prior to your April sale – can I upgrade this to an Ultimate Pass?
A. If you would like to upgrade to an Ultimate Pass, you can pay the difference in price between the Ultimate Pass and the pass you’ve already purchased. Please give our team a call on 0508 RUAPEHU and we will process this for you over the phone.
Q. Can I purchase a season pass refund warranty with an Ultimate Pass?
A. No. This is a shared pass with Cardrona/Snowplanet/Skyline and all resorts have their own refund policies. Any requests for an Ultimate Pass refund will be considered on a case by case basis by one of Mt Ruapehu's Commercial managers, in conjunction with Cardrona/Snowplanet/Skyline.
Q. Does the season pass refund warranty cost more for a Platinum Pass/Season Pass+First Tracks/Season Pass+Night Skiing?

A. If the pass holder is paying in full, yes, if not, no.This cannot be ‘redeemed’ on another person’s transaction.
