Backcountry Avalanche Course

This course is the next step up from the Avalanche Awareness Course taking the learning from 'what is an avalanche and where does it happen?" to more in depth analysis of weather, snow and terrain. With 4 days of contact time we can really cover some ground. This is an ideal course for those of you wishing to explore the backcountry on skis or snowboard. We aim to spend as much time in the backcountry as possible and as a result all participants need to be able to travel either with touring skis or snowshoes and snowboard. These can be hired here at Mt Ruapehu.

Andy Hoyle
