“.....I didn’t know what to expect from the TSI course, but now I've completed it, I can honestly say it’s the best thing I’ve done with my life so far. Every part of it from the phenomenal training to meeting some amazing friends was just a non stop fun and exciting time.
I would advise anybody who has a passion for Snowsports, learning and teaching to do this course and experience it for themselves.
Before I did the TSI course I didn’t have a single clue on how to teach somebody how to ski, and to be honest I wasn’t exactly the best skier myself, but now I can proudly say that I am a NZSIA certified ski instructor and have changed my lifestyle for the better, which I owe to everybody from Turoa Snow School for making me part of the team so quickly!
If you’re unsure about doing the course or not.....do it, you won’t regret it!!”

“After I finished my school in the Netherlands, I didn't want to go to University I’d rather wanted to do something active. So I started looking for ski instructor courses and ended up choosing for the TSI course. One of the main reasons was that after you have passed your level 1 exam you really start teaching and the whole course just sounded amazing to me. I loved it to be part of the Snow School staff, it is an amazing team and they really made us feel part of the team. The whole atmosphere on the mountain is so good and friendly and after a while Ohakune really started to feel like home for me.
The TSI course was an absolutely amazing experience where I improved my own skiing and also my communication and teaching skills. It was only the three of us training 3 days a week.
Now I am a qualified ski instructor, which gave me the opportunity to get a job in an international ski school in Switzerland for the Northern hemisphere winter. And I will be back next season in Turoa again.
I would really recommend the TSI course to everybody it is an experience you will never forget! It is so nice doing things you really love!”

“After two weeks skiing overseas in Feb 2010. I decided it was time to change direction and get out of my desk job, I decided that I wanted to ski for a living. I chose the TSI course because of the great benefits of training 3 times a week and being able to start teaching after passing the level 1 exams, giving me some work experience to go on the old CV. It was such an amazing experience. The support and training through the 15 weeks was fantastic. Everyone in the ski school made us feel welcome and part of the team. Our trainer was great; he really went out of his way to get us up to the level we had to be at to pass our exams. All in all, I had an amazing season at Turoa. It was definitely worth giving up my desk job for”

“Hi,
Florence, 21, FRANCE!
I am a ski and snowboard instructor all year around!
I attended the TSI course in 2009 to become a snowboard instructor.
I have worked at Turoa for the 2010 winter and will be back on Ruapehu in 2011!
I am a sophomore instructor at Beaver Creek ski school (Colorado, USA) and I am also planning on coming back for a third season next year.
I randomly picked that course and I do not regret it because being a TSI gave me the opportunity to enter the Snowsports world. We get an amazing training and the experience of teaching! Without the experience and a minimum of skills (gained during my TSI course), I wouldn't have had the chance to be hired by one of the greatest resorts in the USA.
Turoa is a unique place to ski/ride. The weather and snow conditions are always challenging but it helped me become a better rider. RAL is like a family, it's such a friendly environment that I really enjoy working with my peers.
I am a cross-over, my primary discipline is snowboarding but I also teach skiing.
Just one tip for you...there's nothing better than waking up every morning to get paid to spend time on your favourite playground...so come and join us!”

“In addition to returning to Turoa 2010, I’ve worked in Marmot Basin, Alberta and Mt. Washington, British Columbia, Canada. After comparing umpteen instructor training courses, TSI stood head
and shoulders above the crowd for its small, focussed training groups
and the unique opportunity to work within the Snow School throughout
the season, providing valuable (and paid) practical experience in
addition to theoretical knowledge.
I thoroughly enjoy working at Turoa; it's one big happy family with
opportunities to enhance your skills throughout the company. The vast
range of programmes available at Turoa means snowsports are accessible
for everyone and it provides great variety from an instructor's point
of view.
Personally, I really enjoy working with children and have my NZSIA
Children's Accreditation; in 2010, I completed my crossover to skis to
be able to teach younger children too. I also coached on the TASCI
Snowboard programme and have managed to convert a couple of mums to
snowboarding! I get a real buzz from seeing students improve over the
season and it's encouraged my to take my Coaching Accreditations in
2011.
My advice to anyone thinking about taking this course is to just do
it! Don't worry about "being good enough"; believe me, it's amazing how
much my riding improved throughout the programme - and if you can ride
Turoa, you're set for any resort throughout the world!!”

"I attended the TSI course in 2007, and have worked for Turoa Ski Field the following 3 seasons. After my initial season in 2007 I travelled New-Zealand, in the following 2 seasons however I went to Vancouver Canada (2008), and Austria (2009). The highlight of my TSI course was the fun times, whether it be out skiing, in the bars, or on road trips with new friends. I chose the TSI course because I wanted to travel, at that point New Zealand was my Nr. 1 destination, and I wanted to learn an 'international' skill, so I could keep travelling while getting an awesome job, reasonably easy. The TSI course provided both at great value for money.
Currently I'm in Australia skipping a winter; the plan is to save up for a last northern hemisphere winter, before getting what some people would refer to as a 'real job'.
