Tukino Adventure
Tukino Adventure
Join a guide at Whakapapa or Turoa and make your way to Tukino Ski Field via the Summit Plateau or Crater Lake exploring massive amounts of terrain on the way. The decent into Tukino Ski Field boasts some of the best glacier skiing on Mt Ruapehu via either the Whangaehu Glacier or Mangatoetoenui Glacier - over 1000m of uninterrupted fall line! This trip covers some serious terrain so a high level of fitness is required. Enjoy some of the hundreds of hectares of open country between the two commercial ski areas and the wilder Tukino Ski Field. Enjoy a couple of laps on the very kiwi nutcracker rope tow system before our shuttle pick us up and takes us back home.
The day begins at either the Giant Café at Turoa or the Knoll Ridge Café at Whakapapa where you'll meet your guide and get kitted up with all the equipment you need for the day. Then it’s off to do a warm-up run, during which your guide will assess your skiing or boarding ability in order to tailor the day appropriately. All safety related equipment and a gourmet lunch including Powerade from our lovely sponsors are supplied so all you need to bring is a smile, camera and appropriate ski/board equipment and clothing.
