Starting with a scenic chairlift ride to 2,020 metres, your experienced local guide will take you on a spectacular 6 hour journey through stunning alpine scenery to Mt Ruapehu's snow-capped peaks at 2,670 metres. Youth is 5-18 years. Minimum age for the crater walk is 8 years old. Family includes 2 adults and up to 3 dependent children.

Groups travel as fast as the slowest person, stopping often for photos and informative talks by the guide. While the walk is not extreme, a little fitness is helpful. You will have lunch alongside Ruapehu's famous crater lake while learning about its last major erruption.
Groups meet at 9 am at the Vertical store, leaving at 9:30am. Private guided walks and large group rates are available on request.
