Plan Your Trip

First-time to Mt Ruapehu? No worries! Here’s how to get the most from your trip to the snow…

Start your day stress-free with an early start.  Aim to get up the mountain around 7.30AM and from the top car-parks it's just a short walk to the plaza.  Here you can collect your tickets and rental gear without the queues.  Now relax in one of our on-mountain cafes for a wholesome breakfast and good coffee.  When the lifts open around 9AM you're ready for first tracks while others are still parking the car!

Travelling with a family?

Skiing or snowboarding at Mt Ruapehu is a fantastic activity the whole family will love.  Make sure you book the kids into a session with Snow School - while the grown-ups have some quality time together on the slopes.  For the littlies, 2 to 5 year olds love the Turoa Yeti Centre where they are introduced to the snow in a safe environment.
