Sit back and enjoy the spectacular ride on New Zealand's longest gondola, the Sky Waka. Take in the awe-inspiring views of the World Heritage National Park from the comfort of a 10-seater cabin.

Arrive at 2,020m above sea level to the Knoll Ridge Chalet. Enjoy a coffee from the upstairs deck, grab a delicious snack or lunch, play in the snow within a designated fenced area and marvel at the views from the huge floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking The Pinnacles.

Weather permitting, first ride up from the base area is at 10 am, the last ride up is at 3:30 pm and the last ride down is at 4 pm.

Closed footwear is mandatory. Warm and waterproof clothing is recommended. Please check the snow report for sightseeing status.

Note: to exit onto the slopes you must have purchased a valid Weekday or Weekend Day Pass, Season Pass or Life Pass.

Snow Play

Sledding is available at both Tūroa and Whakapapa. At Tūroa join us at Yeti's Sliding Zone, while at Whakapapa zoom along in Happy Valley. Both ski areas have specially groomed sledding slopes, for you to slide your way to the bottom of a carpet lift, then ride back up - no walking involved!

Pro Tip: At both Tūroa and Whakapapa, there are only a limited number of spots available and it is prone to selling out quickly! To avoid disapointment make sure you book your slot early.

*Please note: Guests need to be 8 years of age, or older, to be able to ride in the sled by themselves.

Sledding at Whakapapa

Please note:
You cannot bring your own sled into the sledding area.
All children aged 7 and under must be accompanied by an adult with a valid sledding pass.
