These Terms and Conditions replace any past agreements with RAL and outlines terms of service for the 2020 winter season.

THE MT RUAPEHU CODE OF CONDUCT

At Mt Ruapehu we endorse the New Zealand Snow Safety Code.

  1. These terms and conditions apply to all Ruapehu Alpine Lifts Limited (‘RAL’) pass holders, including persons who hold day passes, flexi passes, season passes, life passes, night ski passes, sightseeing passes and sledding passes. (each, a ‘pass’). By purchasing a pass, rental or ski & ride school product and/or using RAL’s services, you are deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions, and you agree to be bound by them. Pass holders are permitted to use RAL’s services only in accordance with these terms and conditions.
  2. A card processing fee of 1.75% of the purchase price will apply to any purchases made from RAL by credit card, or debit card when the card holder is not present.
  3. Season Passes are non-refundable, except where permitted under a Season Pass Warranty which has also been purchased. Terms and conditions for the Season Pass Warranty are set out below.
  4. Single Day Passes & Rental passes are valid for any day throughout the 2020 winter season across both Turoa and Whakapapa. In the case of weather conditions impacting all lift facility operations, or in the case of road closures or capacity management preventing access to the Ski Area, these passes are refundable if all of the below criteria is met. The refund is requested on the day of intended use, the refund is authorised by Guest Relations staff. As the day pass can be used for any day throughout the operational season, refund requests will be subject to admin fee of $25 per adult and $15 per youth. All refunds will be applied to the initial means of payment.
  5. Flexi passes, flexi rental tickets and multiday packages are valid on any days throughout the 2020 planned winter operational season. Midweek Multi day passes are valid on any Monday - Friday day throughout the 2020 season. They are non-refundable and non-transferrable unless all of the following criteria is met: "Injury to the passholder" which supporting evidence must be supplied, must have more than 50% of days unused on the pass to be eligible. Refunds for the above criteria shall be calculated at the full value of the flexi pass, less any days used, calculated at the All Mountain Day Pass rate or the All Mountain Midweek Day Pass rate depending on the type of pass purchased. Any refunds calculated on the above criteria are subject to an admin fee of $25 per adult and $15 per youth.
  6. Passes are not transferrable and may only be used by the person to whom they are issued, as recorded by RAL on the pass. The person to whom the pass has been issued is responsible for the safekeeping of the pass.
  7. If the pass is used by someone other than the pass holder, as named on the pass, and that use is not authorised by RAL, RAL may revoke the pass for the remainder of the operational season, or commence prosecution and/or legal action.
  8. A 2020 pass does not entitle the bearer to any free transport services offered by RAL. Shuttle charges will be advertised on www.mtruapehu.com prior to the 2020 season and be payable prior to usage.
  9. Passes must be worn by the pass holder at all times while skiing, snowboarding, sightseeing or sledding at Whakapapa and Turoa ski areas.
  10. Passes can only be used during the winter operational seasons of RAL ski areas. The winter operational seasons are determined by RAL at its absolute discretion and are subject to snow and weather conditions, and RAL having a licence to operate the ski areas at such times. The 2020 planned winter operational seasons for RAL ski areas are as follows: Happy Valley 1 July – 4 October 2020, Whakapapa 1 July - 26 October 2020, Turoa 11 July - 18 October 2020. Subject to weather and snow conditions.
  11. Platinum Season Passes and associated parking passes are non-transferrable and may only be used by the person to whom they are issued. If the pass or parking pass is used by someone other than the platinum pass holder, RAL may revoke the pass for the remainder of the operational season, or commence prosecution and/or legal action. Platinum Season Passes are valid during the 2020 planned winter operational season only.
  12. Should operations continue beyond the planned winter operational season dates outlined in (10) above, this will be deemed as a separate independent event, and additional charges may apply.
  13. Should the operational season for 2020 extend beyond the planned winter operational season, the purchase of a 2021 Season Pass in October 2020 shall entitle the pass holder to access the event.
  14. Any conduct or behaviour on a RAL ski area that is criminal, fraudulent, in breach of the Mt Ruapehu Code of Conduct, or otherwise presents a risk to the safety of any person on a RAL ski area, entitles RAL to revoke the Pass without any refund payable to the Pass holder.
  15. If a person to whom a pass has been issued provides any false information in connection with the purchase of any pass or product offered by RAL (including providing an incorrect age for any infant, child, youth, super or super super), RAL may at any time without notice revoke any or all passes acquired by, or on behalf of, the person who provided that false information or the person to whom that false information relates.
  16. Age of a pass holder, when assessing eligibility for an infant, child, youth, adult, super or super super pass, is determined at the time of purchase.
  17. RAL reserves the right to ask a pass holder or a person purchasing a pass, whether for himself/herself, or on behalf of anyone else, for proof of age at any time. Proof of age must be provided for all infant, child, youth, adult, super or super super season pass products before the pass will be issued/activated.
  18. The ‘Student’ category is applicable to season passes only. No day or multiday rates are available for students on any passes or other products.
  19. Student Season passes are available from 1 Jan - 15 Mar 2020 only to campus based students "studying full time" in 2020 with an Australasian tertiary institution. We define "studying full time" as a minimum of 25 hours per week for the duration of the course (minimum of 32 weeks in a calendar year). Current photo ID in English with a valid expiry date issued from the Australasian tertiary institution and an original letter from that institution confirming full time study status for 2020 must be shown. ISIC cards are not accepted. Passes can be purchased online, in person, over the phone, via email or at one of our retail outlets on or off-mountain, with relevant proof of enrolment. While we can accept payment and application for a student season pass now, the pass will not be issued until we have been provided with adequate proof of full time 2020 student status.
  20. A $5 non-refundable card fee is applicable to all new pass cards (‘snow cards’). Lost, stolen or damaged snow cards must be reported to RAL immediately. Replacement of a lost, stolen or damaged snow card will incur the $5 new snow card fee.
  21. Photo identification will be required when picking up your snow card, being issued a replacement, or updating your photograph. In addition, RAL may use one or more gate control cameras at its RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) access control gates. These cameras capture images of persons when those persons access or use the lifts. RAL uses this system to confirm that snow cards are used only by the correct persons.
  22. Photographs or videos taken by you must be for your own personal use and enjoyment and not for any commercial purpose. From time to time you might be monitored by the company and CCTV cameras may be in use. RAL reserves the right to photograph guests at any time for security purposes or for use in connection with the promotional activities and general commercial operations of the Company. You expressly agree to the use of your image and likeness for these purposes without compensation.
  23. A pass issued (or reloaded) by RAL to the person(s) detailed within the purchase, is considered delivery of the goods and services contracted for by the person who pays for that pass, irrespective of method of payment. Ownership of the pass belongs to the person named on the pass, not the purchaser, except that parents or legal guardians will own passes they have purchased on behalf of a minor (any person 17 years old or younger).
  24. RAL is not responsible for the closure of any lift, the mountain and/or Whakapapa or Turoa Ski Areas, caused by any routine maintenance, adverse weather conditions, acts of God, or other circumstances unforeseen and/or beyond RAL’s reasonable control.
  25. To the maximum extent permitted by law, RAL is not liable for any loss, damage or injury including direct, indirect or consequential loss suffered by any person arising out of or in connection with the use of the pass. Nothing in these terms and conditions limits or excludes any right or remedies that cannot be limited or excluded, including under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.
  26. RAL reserves the right to vary and amend any of the Terms and Conditions relating to the passes or other products offered by RAL at its sole discretion, provided that if any variation or amendment made by RAL to the Terms and Conditions is materially adverse to the Pass holder’s interests, the pass holder may cancel their pass and, in the case of cancelled Season Passes, RAL will refund to that Season Pass holder a pro-rata amount, less the cost of a 2019 All Mountain day pass for each day the Season Pass has been used (such refund not to exceed the purchase price of the Season Pass).

2020 RUAPEHU ALPINE LIFT SEASON PASS TERMS & CONDITIONS

  1. These terms and conditions apply to all Ruapehu Alpine Lifts Limited (‘RAL’) Pass holders, including persons who hold day Passes, Flexi Passes, Season Passes, Life Passes, Night Ski Passes, and Sightseeing Passes (each, a ‘Pass’). By purchasing a Pass and/or using RAL’s services, you are deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions, and you agree to be bound by them. Pass holders are permitted to use RAL’s services only in accordance with these terms and conditions.

  2. A card processing fee of 1.75% of the purchase price will apply to any purchases made from RAL by credit card or debit card.

  3. Passes are non-refundable, except where permitted under a Season Pass Warranty that has also been purchased. Terms and conditions for the Season Pass Warranty are set out below.

  4. Passes will not be refunded due to weather, full or partial ski area closure or other operating contingencies affecting any lift, run, area or facility.

  5. Passes are not transferable and may only be used by the person to whom they are issued, as recorded by RAL on the Pass. The person to whom the Pass has been issued is responsible for the safekeeping of the Pass.

  6. Passes must always be carried by the Pass holder while skiing, boarding or sightseeing at Whakapapa and Turoa ski areas and identification may be requested to prove identity.

  7. Fraudulent use of your Pass, by you or a third party, RAL may revoke the Pass for the remainder of the operational season or commence prosecution and/or legal action.

  8. Passes can only be used during the winter operational seasons of RAL ski areas. The winter operational seasons are determined by RAL at its absolute discretion and are subject to snow and weather conditions, and RAL having a licence to operate the ski areas at such times.

  9. 2020 planned winter operational seasons are 1st July - 4th October for Happy Valley, 1st July - 26th October for Whakapapa and 11 July - 18th October for Turoa. Subject to weather and snow conditions.

  10. A Day, Flexi or Anytime Season Pass provides access to either Turoa or Whakapapa Ski area lifts between the standard operational hours of 9am and 4pm throughout the planned winter operational season. A Midweek Season Pass provides access to either Turoa or Whakapapa Ski Area lifts Monday to Friday between the standard operational hours of 9am and 4pm throughout the planned operational season. This is subject to weather and snow conditions.

  1. First Tracks will not go ahead for the 2020 season. For those who have purchased this upgrade as part of a Season Pass, our team will be in touch regarding a credit or refund.
    If you have purchased this as an upgrade to your Season Pass, we are pleased to offer you a couple of different options:

-Full refund.
-Credit which is available to use in retail or our food and beverage outlets this year.
-Credit to be held for 12 months and can be used against your 2021 season pass purchase.

  1. Adult, Youth, Child and Super Season Passes, each receive four (4) Buddy Passes which entitle a ‘buddy’ to ski for 50% off full day pass. Buddy Passes are valid for the same Pass type as purchased or lesser value. i.e a Youth Season Pass can redeem 4 x 50% off Youth full day Passes, an Adult Season Pass can redeem 4 x 50% off Adult or Youth full day Lift Passes. Buddy Passes can be redeemed online or in person at our customer relations desks. Anytime Season Pass Buddy Pass benefit offers four 50% passes valid Monday – Sunday. Midweek Season Pass Buddy Pass benefit offers four 50% passes valid Monday – Friday. No refunds/exchanges are due if Passes are not used on the dates specified at time of purchase.

  2. On and off-mountain benefits are only valid for the Season Pass holder and are not transferrable. On-mountain discounts apply from time of purchase (no earlier than 21 October 2019) until 30 November 2020. International resort benefits apply for the Northern Hemisphere winter season following the 2020 NZ Winter Season– i.e. 2020 Season Pass international benefits, can only be used in the 2020/2021 Northern Hemisphere winter.

  3. Platinum Passes and associated Parking Passes are non-transferrable and may only be used by the person to whom they are issued. If the Pass or Parking Pass is used by someone other than the Platinum Pass holder, RAL may revoke the Pass for the remainder of the operational season, or commence prosecution and/or legal action. Platinum Passes are valid for the 2020 season only.

  4. A 2020 Season Pass does not entitle the bearer to any free transport services offered by RAL. Shuttle charges will be advertised on www.mtruapehu.com prior to the 2020 season and be payable prior to usage.

  5. Should operations continue beyond the planned winter operational season dates outlined in (7) and (8) above, this will be deemed as a separate independent event, and additional charges may apply.

  6. All Pass holders must abide by the Mt Ruapehu Code of Conduct. Misconduct will result in cancellation or suspension of the pass with no refund. Misconduct includes, but is not limited to, reckless or dangerous skiing or snowboarding, excessive speed within a slow or learning zone, disregard for closed areas, unsociable or aggressive behaviour, skiing or snowboarding under the influence of alcohol or drugs, supply of incorrect information or breach of the conditions as per the Mt Ruapehu Terms and Conditions and Code of Conduct.

  7. If a person to whom a Pass has been issued provides any false information regarding the purchase of any Pass or product offered by RAL (including providing an incorrect age for any infant, child, youth, or super super), RAL may at any time without notice revoke any or all Passes acquired by, or on behalf of, the person who provided that false information or the person to whom that false information relates.

  8. Age of a Pass holder, when assessing eligibility for an Infant, Child, Youth, Adult, or Super is as at time of purchase. Age of a Pass holder, when assessing eligibility for a Super Super Pass, is at time of first use.

  9. RAL reserves the right to ask a Pass holder or a person purchasing a Pass, whether for himself/herself, or on behalf of anyone else, for proof of age and identification at any time.

  10. A $5 non-refundable card fee is applicable to all new cards. Lost, stolen or damaged Passes must be reported to RAL immediately. Replacement of a lost, stolen or damaged Pass will incur the $5 new card fee.

  15. RAL is not responsible for the closure of any lift, the mountain and/or Whakapapa or Turoa Ski Areas, caused by any routine maintenance, adverse weather conditions, force majeure, or other circumstances unforeseen and/or beyond RAL’s reasonable control.

  16. To the maximum extent permitted by law, RAL is not liable for any loss, damage or injury including direct, indirect or consequential loss suffered by any person arising out of or in connection with the use of the Pass. Nothing in these terms and conditions limits or excludes any right or remedies that cannot be limited or excluded, including under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.

  17.   18. Definitions for Season, Lift, Multi-Day, Rental and Ski & Ride School products are below:

A. Adult is defined as aged 18+ years.
B. Super Super is defined as aged 70+ years and the free skiing offer is valid for previous holders of an RAL Ski Pass. A non-refundable $5 card fee will apply.
C. Super is defined as 65+ years with a valid NZ Super Gold Card.
D. Youth is defined as 5 -17 years.
E. Child is defined as aged 5-10 years (Must be purchased with an Adult Season or Life Pass).
F. Infants aged 4 or under are entitled to free skiing at Mt Ruapehu. A $5 non-refundable card fee will apply.
G. Tertiary Student means a campus based student "studying full time" in 2020 with an Australasian tertiary institution. We define "studying full time" as a minimum of 25 hours per week for the duration of the course (minimum of 32 weeks in a calendar year). Current photo ID in English with a valid expiry date issued from the Australasian tertiary institution and an original letter from that institution confirming full time study status for 2020 must be shown. ISIC cards are not accepted. Can be purchased online or in person at one of our retail outlets on or off-mountain with relevant proof of enrolment. Tertiary Student Passes will be available to purchase from 1 Jan – 29 Feb 2020.
H. We reserve the right to request proof of age or eligibility at any time.
I. Age is determined at date of purchase.

2020 SEASON PASS WARRANTY TERMS & CONDITIONS

  1. Any person who buys a Season Pass from RAL for the 2020 ski season may also purchase a Season Pass Warranty (‘Season Pass Warranty’). The Season Pass Warranty must be obtained at the same time as the Season Pass purchase.

  2. The Season Pass Warranty is subject to the terms and conditions below which are to be read in conjunction with all other RAL terms and conditions, and publicly posted notices and signs, except to the extent there is a conflict in which case the Terms and Conditions below prevail.

  3. Any Season Pass Warranty purchased only applies to the Season Pass purchased for the 2020 ski season.

  4. The Season Pass Warranty is personal to the person to whom the relevant Season Pass was issued and does not apply or extend to any other Season Pass holder. A Season Pass Warranty is NOT transferable and cannot be sold or exchanged.

  5. The Season Pass Warranty provides for a refund in the following circumstances only, provided these circumstances preclude the Season Pass holder from being able to use the Season Pass:
    a) Personal injury to the Season Pass holder;
    b) Severe illness of the Season Pass holder;
    c) Pregnancy of the Season Pass holder; or
    d) Transfer overseas or to the South Island of New Zealand for work purposes by a Season Pass holder’s employer.

  6. The full or partial refund will be considered and determined by RAL for the person who meets one of the above criteria only. Supporting documentation must be provided e.g. doctor’s certificate, letter from employer.

  7. All requests for refund under the terms of this Season Pass Warranty must be submitted to RAL in writing via https://forms.gle/Cp88q1g3c6mMmaPh8 by the advertised end of the winter season date (time being of the essence, i.e. no claims will be accepted by RAL after that date).

  8. Any refund value where applicable, will be calculated on a pro-rata basis, less the cost of a 2020 All Mountain Day Pass for each day the Season Pass had already been used. The maximum refund amount under the Season Pass Warranty shall not exceed the purchase amount of the Season Pass. Refunds will be made to the same party by the same method as used to purchase the Pass, or by any other method as determined by RAL at its absolute discretion, and the Season Pass will be cancelled.

  9. Once purchased, the Season Pass Warranty is non-refundable and may not be cancelled by the Season Pass holder. Should a Season Pass be cancelled for any reason by RAL, the associated Season Pass Warranty shall also be cancelled.

2020 “CHILD (5-10 YEARS) SEASON PASS” TERMS & CONDITIONS

  1. All 2020 SEASON PASS GENERAL TERMS & CONDITIONS, as per above, apply.

  2. A 2020 “Child (5-10 Years) Season Pass” is available only with an accompanying 2020 Adult Season Pass purchase of the same type or current Adult Life Pass.

  3. To purchase a Child Anytime Pass, the accompanying adult must have an adult Anytime Season Pass or Life Pass.

  4. This offer is limited to 2 children (aged 5-10 years) per Adult Season and/or Life Pass. The Adult or Life Pass holder must be the parent or legal guardian of the children.

  5. To be eligible for the offer and Child Season Pass, the children must be aged 5-10 years at time of purchase.

  6. A $5 non-refundable card fee is required for every new card.

  7. This offer is not available in conjunction with other lift Pass products for the 2020 winter season.

  8. This offer does not apply to any other RAL and/or Mt Ruapehu products, including rentals, lesson packages, programmes etc.

  9. RAL reserves the right to ask for proof of age (i.e. Birth Certificate/Passport) or family association for the offer outlined above in order to confirm a customer’s age or family eligibility. If any false information has been provided to RAL, then RAL may revoke any or all Passes acquired by, or on behalf of, the person who provided that false information or the person to whom that false information relates.

  10. ID that provides proof of age is required and must be provided with any application for this type of Pass.

  11. The four Buddy Passes are available for the same Pass type (Midweek or Anytime) and same age group or younger, therefore are valid for individuals aged 5-10 years only.

WIN A TRIP TO PANORAMA, CANADA TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The Win a Trip to Panorama Prize includes:

  • Return economy airfares ex Auckland to Calgary for two people
  • Return Airport Transfers (Calgary to Panorama) for 2 Adults
  • 7-nights accommodation in a 1-bedroom ski-in / ski-out apartment

Prize can be redeemed during these dates: January 3, 2021 to February 11, 2021 & February 28, 2021 to April 4, 2021

  1. Information on how to enter and prize details set out in all communications regarding the Mt Ruapehu Win a Trip to Panorama (Promotion) form part of the Terms and Conditions of Entry.

  2. By participating in the Promotion, each entrant fully and unconditionally agrees and acknowledges that these Terms and Conditions of Entry and the decisions of the Promoter on all matters relating to the Promotion are final and binding.

  3. The "Promoter" is Ruapehu Alpine Lifts Ltd (RAL), Top of Bruce Road, Whakapapa, Mt Ruapehu.

  4. Entry into the Promotion is only open to entrants who meet the following eligibility requirements:
    a) who are aged 18 years and above.  Proof will be required to verify this. b) who have purchased an adult 2020 Mt Ruapehu Season Pass between 01 October – 31 October 2019.
    c) who are permanent full time legal residents of New Zealand. Proof may be required to verify this.
    d) who have a current passport and are eligible to travel to Canada. If travel documents such as a visa are required, this is the responsibility of the prize winner to attain these and ensure compliance with travel conditions.
    e) who register their contact details in accordance with condition 7; and  

  5. To be eligible to win, the entrant must not be an employee or a member of the immediate family of, or domiciled with an employee of RAL or Panorama.

  6. The prize must be accepted on an “as is” and no substitutions will be granted.

  7. By entering the contest, entrants agree to abide by the contest rules and decisions of the RAL, which are final.

  8. RAL will not be responsible for any costs for any additional persons, as well as minors, included in the same party, to accompany the prize winner. These costs will be me by the prize winner.

  9. Only one entry per person is permitted into this prize draw, and all duplicates will be removed by RAL.

  10. The prize winner will be drawn on Wednesday 6 November 2019 and will be notified by phone, email and on the Mt Ruapehu website and Facebook page.

  11. The prize winner will be required to produce proof of identity.

  12. The prize winner has until 5pm on the fifth working day after initial notification to contact RAL. If they do not make contact in this time, RAL reserves the right to redraw the winner randomly from the entries.

  13. The promoter may use the prize winner’s name, entry and town of residence in any publicity relating to this promotion.

  14. Accommodation is subject to availability at the time of booking, and RAL are not responsible should the prize winners preferred dates not be available.

  15. There are no allowances for any kind of transport at all either in New Zealand, or Canada with the exception of return airport transfers ex Calgary to Panorama.

  16. Any costs or inconveniences caused to prize winners during their time in Panorama Mountain Resort whilst taking their prize are to be taken up with the suppliers direct, and relevant claims are to be made through the prize winner’s travel insurance provider, which they are advised to purchase at their own expense.

  17. RAL will not be liable for any events that prevent the prize winners from travelling or redeeming this prize draw offering, or any injury suffered by prize winners during their time traveling on this prize draw package to Canada.

  18. This prize is not exchangeable for cash or transferable to someone other than the prize winner.

RUAPEHU ALPINE LIFTS LIFE PASS TERMS & CONDITIONS

  1. These terms and conditions apply to all Ruapehu Alpine Lifts Limited (‘RAL’) Pass holders, including Life and Life+ Passes. By purchasing a Pass and/or using RAL’s services, you are deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions, and you agree to be bound by them. Pass holders are permitted to use RAL’s services only in accordance with these terms and conditions.
  2. A card processing fee of 1.75% of the purchase price will apply to any purchases made from RAL by credit card or debit card.
  3. Life Passes and Life+ Passes are non-refundable under any circumstances.
  4. Passes, other than Life+ Passes, are non-transferable and can only be used by the person to whom they are issued as recorded by RAL on the Pass. The person to whom the Pass has been issued is responsible for the safekeeping of the Pass.
  5. Life+ Passes can be transferred once by the initial pass holder within 10 years of the date of purchase.
  6. If the Pass is used by someone other than the pass holder, as named on the Pass, RAL may revoke the Pass for the remainder of the operational season, or commence prosecution and/or legal action.
  7. Passes must always be carried by the Pass holder while skiing, boarding or sightseeing at Whakapapa and Turoa ski areas.
  8. Passes can only be used during the operational seasons of RAL ski areas. The operational seasons are determined by RAL at its absolute discretion and are subject to snow and weather conditions, and RAL having a licence to operate the ski areas at such times.
  9. On and off-mountain benefits are only valid for the Life Pass or Life+ Pass holder, and are not transferrable. These are at the discretion of RAL and change from year to year.
  10. Life Pass holder discounts will only be available on products purchased after the date a Life Pass or Life+ Pass is purchased. No retrospective discounts are to be applied to any product including Platinum Pass, Rentals and Ski & Ride School products.
  11. Any conduct or behaviour on an RAL ski area that is criminal, fraudulent, in breach of the Snow Responsibility Code, or otherwise presents a risk to the safety of any person on an RAL ski area, entitles RAL to revoke the Pass without any refund payable to the Pass holder.
  12. If a person to whom a pass has been issued provides any false information in connection with the purchase of any pass or product offered by RAL, RAL may at any time without notice revoke any or all Passes acquired by, or on behalf of, the person who provided that false information or the person to whom that false information relates.
  13. Lost, stolen or damaged Passes must be reported to RAL immediately. Replacement of a lost, stolen or damaged Pass will incur a $5 new card fee.
  14. Any personal information that may be collected by RAL is governed by RAL’s Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms and conditions and is available at https://www.mtruapehu.com/privacy. By purchasing a Pass, you agree to receive occasional informational emails and offers related to RAL products and services, and products and services of selected related partners. You have the option from unsubscribing from this service at any time. RAL will not rent or sell your personal information to third parties.
  15. Photo identification will be required when picking up your Pass, being issued a replacement Pass, or updating your photograph. In addition, RAL may use one or more gate control cameras at its RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) access control gates. These cameras capture images of persons when those persons access or use the lifts. RAL uses this system to confirm that lift Passes are used only by the correct persons.
  16. Holders of a Pass are subject to the same conditions applicable to all usage of the RAL Whakapapa and Turoa ski areas, as determined by RAL from time to time at its sole discretion as available at https://www.mtruapehu.com/terms/.
  17. A Pass issued by RAL to the person(s) detailed within the purchase, is considered delivery of the goods and services contracted for by the person who pays for that Pass, irrespective of method of payment. Ownership of the Pass belongs to the person named on the Pass, not the purchaser, except that parents or legal guardians will own Passes they have purchased on behalf of a minor (any person 17 years old or younger).
  18. RAL is not responsible for the closure of any lift, the mountain and/or Whakapapa or Turoa areas, caused by any routine maintenance, adverse weather conditions, acts of God, or other circumstances unforeseen and/or beyond RAL’s reasonable control.
  19. To the maximum extent permitted by law, RAL is not liable for any loss, damage or injury including direct, indirect or consequential loss suffered by any person arising out of or in connection with the use of the Pass. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions limits or excludes any right or remedies that cannot be limited or excluded, including under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.
  20. RAL reserves the right to vary and amend any of the Terms and Conditions relating to the Passes or other products offered by RAL at its sole discretion, provided that if any variation or amendment made by RAL to the Terms and Conditions is materially averse to the Pass holder’s interests, the Pass holder may cancel their Pass.

2020 SEASON RENTALS TERMS & CONDITIONS

  1. All Equipment is priced based on age of customer, not size of equipment. Equipment is last seasons’ stock. RAL does NOT guarantee new items. Numbers are limited and equipment is only reserved on receipt of this completed and signed contract. Equipment is issued on a first-come, first-served basis.

  2. All rented items must be returned to a RAL Rentals location by the close of the season on or before 26 October 2020. After this date, a charge of the additional purchase price for any items not returned will apply. Any outstanding monies owed as a result of non-return will be passed onto a credit/debt collection agency.

  3. All equipment must be returned in good condition. Any repairs/replacement necessary due to damage, other than fair wear and tear (broken equipment, or due to careless use of equipment), you agree to pay a stock replacement fee of $150.

  4. Refunds are only available prior to the date that sizing is confirmed and stock is ordered on the renting customer’s behalf. All requests for a refund under these terms must be submitted to the RAL Rentals team in writing via enquiry form at www.mtruapehu.com/contact-us . Refunds can be issued by the original payment method less an admin fee ($25 per Adult/$15 per Youth) or to the full value in the form of Ruapehu Activity Dollars. The customer shall incur any expenses, disbursements and legal costs incurred by RAL in the collection of any overdue amounts owing.

  5. All insurance costs and contracts are the responsibility of the purchaser.

  6. If the assigned Season Rental equipment is lost or stolen, the full purchase price is the responsibility of the purchaser.

  7. This form must be completed by October 31st 2019 for each person renting equipment. Your Season Rentals are not confirmed until we have this information.

  9. Contact details for the person paying (and therefore responsible) for all Season Rental equipment are required to process the package.

  10. Pick up from April 12th 2020 from the following locations: Taupo Snow HQ, Ohakune Snow Depot or from 30th May 2020 from Whakapapa Ski Area.

  11. Pick up times during normal business hours.

2020 SKI & RIDE SCHOOL TERMS & CONDITIONS.

A. Unless otherwise stated, Ski & Ride School products (Group & Private lessons and Programmes) DO NOT include a lift pass.

Group & Private Lessons & Group Lesson Packages

  1. ‘Lessons’ includes all private lessons, Youth or Adult group lessons and group lesson packages, which are booked in advance of the lesson date at an RAL office or via website/phone/email.

  2. In the case of lesson cancellation due to ski area closure, or customer illness/injury with accompanying medical certificate, the lesson may be rescheduled to another date in the current season, or refunded in full.

  3. In the case of lesson cancellation by the customer for any other reason more than 48 hours prior to the lesson start time, the lesson may be rescheduled to another date in the current season. Alternatively a refund is available by one of the following methods:
    i. Ruapehu Activity Dollars* to the full value of the products purchased
    ii. A refund by the original method of payment to the value of the products purchased, less an admin fee of $25 per Adult/$15 per Youth.

  4. In the case of lesson cancellation/rescheduling by the customer for any reason within 48 hours of the lesson start time, an admin fee of $50 is applicable i.e. this fee will either be charged upon rescheduling or will be deducted from the value of the product refund.

  5. In the case of lesson cancellation by the customer without any notice (“no show”), no refund or reschedule is available.

  6. If a group lesson consists of three or fewer participants, the lesson duration may be altered.

*Ruapehu Activity Dollars are valid for 1 year from issue;
Can be used in store at Guest Relations, F&B, Retail & Lessons and
Cannot be exchanged for cash.

Programmes

  1. ‘Programmes’ include all multi-weekend programmes e.g. Academy, Team Ruapehu, and all 3- to 5-day programmes e.g. Holiday Crew, Ladies’/Men’s Development Week.

  2. Programme registration is not complete until participant details have been entered in the eForm which is in the confirmation email. One form is required per participant per programme.

  3. Where a programme is purchased, and it is later identified that the participant is not at the required skiing/riding ability, a transfer to the appropriate programme is available at no additional fee. If there is a difference in price we will charge extra or refund based on the prices when the original purchase was made. If an appropriate program is not available, a refund will be provided. This is only available on day one of the programme and must be raised with Programmes Coordinator/Head Coach on the same day.

  4. In the case of entire programme cancellation by the customer more than 48 hours prior to the programme start time, a refund is available to the value of the product(s) purchased, by one of the following methods:
    i. Ruapehu Activity Dollars* ii. A refund by the original method of payment to the value of the products purchased, less an admin fee of $25 per Adult/$15 per Youth.

  5. In the case of entire programme cancellation/rescheduling by the customer for any reason within 48 hours of the programme start time, an admin fee of $50 is applicable, i.e. this fee will either be charged upon rescheduling or will be deducted from the value of the product refund.

  6. In the case of any entire programme or programme day(s) cancellation due to customer illness/injury with accompanying medical certificate, a refund will be provided (on a pro-rata basis where applicable) by one of the following methods:

    ii. A refund by the original method of payment to the value of the products purchased, less an admin fee of $25 per Adult/$15 per Youth.

  7. No refunds due to missed programme days, except in the case of medical illness/injury (see above). If the programme is relocated to Happy Valley due to weather conditions or lift status, the programme will still continue and any missed days by the customer will be forfeited.

  8. Where off-snow activities (e.g. group dinner) are provided as part of a programme, these are optional, however no partial refund or discount is available for opting out.

  9. In the case of any weeklong or weekend programme day cancellation due to ski area closure, alternative activities may be provided at an off-mountain location. If an alternative activity is not provided, or attendance is not possible due to safety concerns around access from a club lodge (e.g. road or weather conditions), a refund will be calculated on a pro-rata basis and provided in the form of Ruapehu Activity dollars* only.

2020 RAL SCHOOLS - TERMS & CONDITIONS

  1. Programme Dates

For safety reasons and due to high operational demand, RAL School pricing will not apply on weekends or July school holidays during the season. 

July School holidays (03/07/2020 to 19/07/2020). 

  1. Booking Process

Availability is limited and is on a first come first served basis. To avoid disappointment, we recommend booking well in advance via the online booking system.  

A minimum of 10 students per booking is required. If you have a small school roll, please contact the Schools and Groups Coordinator. If you do not have 10 students in a booking, the Schools and Groups Coordinator reserves the right to void said booking.

Please note that once we have confirmation of discipline (Ski or Snowboard) choices, this cannot be changed during the trip. 

Final numbers must be confirmed no later than 48hrs prior to your arrival on the mountain.  

Payment will be calculated based on these final confirmed numbers 

To ensure maximum efficiency, Snow Cards will be pre-printed based on confirmed information 

When you arrive, please proceed to the Schools & Groups Coordinator to collect your group’s lift passes.  

  1. Payment

The total charge will be calculated on confirmed numbers supplied by the schools 48hrs prior to arrival. 

Payment must be made via credit account. If your school doesn’t have an account with us you must apply no less than 2 weeks prior to travel.  

  1. Absenteeism

Any absenteeism must be communicated to the Schools & Groups coordinator before receiving their lift pass. 

Absenteeism notices will only be accepted by the group leader.   

  1. Transportation

Transportation to and from the ski areas is the responsibility of the individual schools. 

Safety restrictions may be placed on the road which requires 2WD vehicles (including buses) to fit chains to safely travel up and down the access roads. We strongly encourage confirming with your transportation provider that they can do this. 

If you miss your visit because you cannot access the ski field due to transportation issues, the school will be counted as a no show and charges will apply. 

Busses are able to utilise the drop off area on a short-term basis, however parking throughout the day will be at one of the designated car parks which are open to all customers. 

Bookings for transportation provided by RAL need to be made 14 days in advance. If a school cancels a bus booking within 48 hours prior to booking date, a 20% cancellation fee will be incurred.

Park and Ride shuttles from Ohakune to Turoa ski area or National Park to Whakapapa ski area need to be confirmed 48 hours prior to booking date.

If the mountain is closed on the day, there will be no charge on cancellation of buses by RAL. If Happy Valley ski area remains open, the mountain is still considered operational.

The rates provided for bus hire is for the entire bus and will remain constant regardless of group size. Maximum capacity of buses are stated in the product description and should be strictly adhered to.

  1. Cancellations and Changes

If the ski area is closed you have booked to visit is closed we will try to reschedule your visit for another day. 

If an alternative day is not available, you will not be charged for the day missed.  

If a school does not show up for their trip or cancels a booking within 48hrs of arrival, a 20% cancelation fee (based on the confirmed quote) will be charged. 

Requests to increase group size or purchase additional products, will be accommodated subject to availability at no extra charge. 

Requests to decrease group size within 48hrs of arrival, will incur an administration charge of $10 per person.   

  1. Checking in Times

For 9.00am lessons please check in with Schools & Groups Coordinator no later than 8.00am to collect your lift passes and proceed through Rentals. 
For 11:00am lessons please check in with Schools & Groups Coordinator no earlier than 8:45am to collect your lift passes and proceed through Rentals. 

Check in and rentals will be prioritised based on lesson times and availability 

  1. F&B - Lunch

If you have any dietary requirements, please let us know at least 48hrs in advance. If the information is not conveyed, we may not be able to accommodate the dietary requirements.

If you are self-catering, please contact the Schools and Groups Coordinators to see if we can accommodate your request as the cafeteria seating is reserved for cafe patrols only. This is dependent on business demands on the day.

  1. Rental

To ensure your group goes through Rentals as quickly as possible, we require the following 48hr in advance from schools: 

  • First and Last Names 
  • Age
  • Height, weight & shoe size  
  • Discipline (Ski or Snowboard) 
  • Ability level (First Timer, Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced) 

If this information is not provided, then please allow additional time in rentals to set up your gear. 

Once you have collected your lift pass from the Schools & Groups Coordinators please proceed directly to Rentals. 

Rentals is open from 7:30am on the day of your visit to ensure adequate time to go through the process before your lesson. 

For safety reasons, we recommend all students wear helmets (and wrist guards if they are snowboarding) which are included in the programme cost. 

RAL ski areas do not have waterproof gloves, goggles, sunglasses or warm hats available for rent. All individuals must bring their own, or these items can be purchased from our retail stores.  

As per the Terms & Conditions of the rental agreement, the renter is liable for the cost of replacement if equipment is lost or stolen, and the cost to repair the equipment if damaged. 

  1. Ski & Ride Lessons   

Ski & Ride lessons are 1 hr 50mins in duration. 

Lesson Times –  

There are three daily slots at Whakapapa and Turoa which schools can be allocated to; 

Lessons depart at 9:00am, 11:00am and 1:00pm  

Stated times are departure times.  Please ensure teachers have students organised in their groups, with equipment and ready to go at least fifteen (15) mins prior to this time.  

Delayed departures will not affect lesson finish times. 

Lesson times are on an ‘as available’ basis. If capacity for a time slot has been reached, we may schedule lessons at other times where available.  

In the event of late arrival to your stated lesson time because of: 

Transportation 

Inclement Weather or  

Other circumstances outside of our control 

Where possible the Ski & Ride School will rearrange lesson times in conjunction with your group coordinator.  

Although it is our goal, we cannot guarantee the same instructor for each day of your visit. 

Group size target of 8 students of similar ability per instructor. 

Group size may be in the range of 5 – 15 depending on the ability range of the wider group 

When an individual school only has a small number of students in a discipline or level, we will look to mix ability levels or combine students with other schools during the same time slot.  

If any ski / snowboard group (once they have been split based on ability) has 4 students or less, the lesson may be shortened to run for 1 hour 

If schools do not provide students ' Ability level (First Timer, Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced) 48 hrs in prior to your arrival, we cannot guarantee that we will have enough instructors allocated for specific discipline and levels 

  1. Adaptive Lessons

We offer help for students with physical, sensory and cognitive impairments. We welcome all abilities and aim to ensure that everyone can come and enjoy the wonderful world of snow sports. If you have students in your group that need special assistance of any kind, please let us know at the time of booking. 

Bookings for Adaptive instructors are essential 

Adaptive bookings are assigned on a first come first served basis 

Teachers are here on a supervisory capacity and if they are the same ability as students or above they may join in with the school group lessons

However, RAL makes no warranties or representations regarding the time required to initiate or complete the processing of any transaction, and does not warrant or represent: (i) that your access to and use of RAL’s website (“Website”) including the payment facility will be continuous, uninterrupted, error free or secure; (ii) that any defects in the Website, including the payment facility, will be corrected, (iii) that this Website, its servers and any network connections are free of computer viruses, Trojans, or other harmful data, code, components or other material; (iv) that it will be able to prevent any illegal, harmful or inappropriate access, use, modification or alteration of the Website including the payment facility; (v) that it will give notice of any such access, use, modification or alteration; (vi) the correctness, accuracy, timeliness, completeness, reliability, quality or otherwise of the Website (or its content) including the payment facility. To the maximum extent permitted by law, RAL’s liability to you whether in contract, tort (including negligence) or otherwise for any loss, damage, or injury shall be limited to the amounts paid by you to RAL in relation to the goods or services giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these terms shall limit or exclude any of your rights that cannot, at law, be excluded, including the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.

  6. You must not use or access the electronic payment facility on the Website except strictly in accordance with the requirements and procedures set out on the Website from time to time and in accordance with all applicable laws. You are responsible for entering the correct account details and card number and other details required by the electronic payment facility on this Website, and for maintaining the security of your computer software and hardware.
