Snow's here & we're absolutely frothing!
You may have heard that Mother Nature has been rather generous recently, delivering us the biggest snowfall in Ohakune since 2001 last week! The storm made for an interesting couple of days with staff commuting to work on groomers, road clearing trucks & ski-doos. The High Noon opened last Sunday for the first time this season for top to bottom, thigh burning goodness!
After some epic bluebird days, the next storm cycle hit on Friday night bringing with it another 30-40cm's of snow on the upper mountain! The Waterfall Express opened for skiing & riding this morning for the last day of the school holidays.
Check the footage from last weekend to see who scored the fruits of the storm here!
Sightsee, sled, play or just throw a snowball!
You don’t need to ski or snowboard to have an epic day on the mountain! Both Whakapapa & Turoa offer sightseeing chairlifts rides, lift-accessed sledding down purpose built sliding lanes & public snow play areas. There’s info on how your family can have the best day ever here!
Looking for a new vehicle for your trip to the snow this year?
Subaru have been our official vehicle sponsor for over 19 years. Their legendary Symmetrical All Wheel Drive range of SUV’s are the perfect vehicles to ensure our staff get up the mountain safely whatever the conditions! If you are looking to upgrade your vehicle make sure you check out their 0% finance p.a.* offer on the Forester & Outback. Check out the offer here.
Night Skiing at Whakapapa
We’re stoked to be running Night Skiing this season at Whakapapa on Fridays, Saturdays & School Holidays from 5-9pm. Don’t miss out on amazing sunset views of the Central Plateau, while getting in a few more runs on the Rockgarden & Tennant’s Valley. We celebrated the official launch of Night Skiing last Saturday night with toasted marshmallows, live music & a delicious Après Ski menu… plus, the sunset definitely did not disappoint! Check out all of the photos here.
See you at the top!
